YouthSpeak Forum for Professionals
"Our last YouthSpeak was focused on for purpose business but dedicated to students. Perhaps we can turn the tables around and have AIESEC facilitate a conference/forum for professionals focused on for purpose businesses (a bit like purpose.do). With the changing dynamics of the globalised world and also the trend towards creating workplaces attractive to millennials, businesses may be interested in AIESEC's input. The idea isn't really just for getting meetings, but more branding AIESEC to the private sector and forming partnerships and networks. Because perhaps we shouldn't only focus on sending students on exchange and for them to create an impact later on in their life. Why not start influencing the existing business leaders with our values."
MC Recommendations
This is an awesome long-term idea for next YouthSpeak Forums! However, lets think about how we can use this concept for immediate results to help us generate more meetings, which is where we need to improve right now!
Maybe we can focus more on challenging the leads we approach through our YouthSpeak Insights as a way to get them to understand more about what we do and get them interested to book a meeting with us. We are the youth leadership movement standing up for what young people are passionate about and taking action through our exchange programs.
Let's challenge their responsibility in being enablers of those leadership experiences to young people all over the world.

PURPLE COW sharing
unsw
HEY all! UNSWA here!
Today, we had the purple cow event for OGX attraction: Global Passport
This is our very first event to create in collaboration with several student societies on board so definitely has a lot of UR support involved and manpower from the LC on the event day!
The aim is for students to 'travel' from one 'country' to another to experience different culture and as they go, they receive 'visas' and learn more about each country, hence the name Global Passport. In this way, if they became more interested then they can experience this country by going on AIESEC exchange! We achieved around 50% of the KPI for both OGC and OGT and this without a doubt, shows that there is a lot more we can improve on!
Also, really glad that the weather was in our favour today despite the forecast saying about the rain! (reminds me of Claudia's story last sem and that's one of the things that kept me looking forward to day - apart from people who had to experience my nervous wreck)
Key learning:
- close follow-up with societies so they are aware of what we do better so we can help promote each other
- task allocation and ensure that people who volunteer at the stall clearly understand their role/personal KPI
- there is nothing you cannot overcome when you have this big family to have your back! Thank you guys! <3 #unsinkable
I was stressed out every day until the end of today because despite having events throughout my experience, I have never organised such an event where there are many external stakeholders with very unpredictable outcomes! My personal learning would be that even if you find yourself so lost, you can always pull yourself through it as long as you try!

"Hey Anne, how has your life changed because of AIESEC?"
"Before the exchange, I used to have a tough time finding my self, where I can fit in, and what I can do to break out of a life with no directions. Hence, at first, this was simply just a breakaway for me and I did not have any expectations for where this exchange would take me. But looking back at this journey from now, I’m glad that I decided to go despite my doubts.
Since the moment I landed in the Philippines and every moment onwards, I was always thankful for everyone who helped me and became a part of my life-changing 6 weeks. I explored so much about myself which I didn’t even know, trying things that I had never had the chances or courage to do before. I learned that all those magical things in life will happen when you have the guts to step away from your comfort zone and always believe in yourself. Moreover, getting immersed within different cultures, living and enjoying everyday with those complete strangers whom, otherwise, would be nearly impossible for me to cross paths with. Those friends that have become family, and I believe the bond we made in that short period of time wont just stop there, but will last forever. Because that’s how AIESEC is."

I almost didn't go. I didn't take the opportunity at first because I was scared of travelling by myself - and the whole thing just sounded crazy. It took me two months to say yes. And I'm so glad I did that because otherwise, I would have missed out on all the crazy adventures and the people that I found in Taiwan.
When I went, my insecurities ended up dropping one by one because of the support that I received from the locals, the AIESECers, and the other exchange participants from around the world.
It was my first time away from family but it didn't feel like it because I'd built my family from the bonds I made with the people I met in Taiwan.
Don't be like Daniel. Don't leave it to that very last second (this is not an assignment, this is amazing).

want to be featured next week? try these tips!
1. Talk about the value AIESEC can bring / has brought to you (not just about purposeful leadership) - this is for stories about AIESEC, whether this is about changing your mindset, your skills, experiences, etc
2. Keep it short, it should be tailored for the social media channel!
e.g. people don't like reading long posts on facebook, so something short and sweet is more effective for storytelling and reaching new audiences (if you were scrolling through your newfeed, would this post make you pause to read it?)

Congratulations to AIESEC in ANU for achieving 5 oGC Approves this August, proving that it is possible to get Approves right now.
But how? Maggie Chen, VP oGC of AIESEC in ANU, will be sharing her learnings on the Facebook group this week, so stay tuned!
Official EXPA Standings
How are we growing from 2015?
oGC:
We've dropped 34 Applicants & 7 Approves since 2015. We're getting EOIs for GC, but where is the conversion to Applicants? What projects are your EPs looking for, and how can you better leverage local and national partnerships to ensure quick and high conversion from Opens to Applicants and Approves?
oGT:
We've dropped 5 Applicants and grown 1 Approve since 2015. Well done on growing in Approves in 2016! What's worked well and what hasn't? We've had a lot of Applicants, but there is a lack of focus in which countries they're applying for - how can we better attract people to the countries that have a high supply of projects (think India!) as well as sell our country partners better to current Opens?
iGT:
We've dropped 1,038 Leads and 55 Meetings since 2015

While Louise (MCVP OGX) is out-of-office on her Operations Tour around the country, I'll be Louise's proxy and managing all OGX Operations in the national office. Keen to be working with you all this month (: You can contact me on Facebook (Josh Solomonsz) or email ([email protected]) for any OGX-related questions or issues. Let's make it happen! 🔥🙌🍆
An issue we're having right now in the network is we're falling behind on our OGX Applications goals. I'll be hosting a discussion on how we can get more applicants this Thursday at 10pm East Coast time. Whether you're in OGX or MaC, TM or Finance, you're invited to this space.
We'll be talking about issues we're facing getting applicants, and co-creating solutions. It's gonna be a blast, but please register at bit.ly/host-au beforehand so I can prepare accordingly.
See you all there!
