creating opportunities for leadership development
When I joined AIESEC Sydney in 2012 as an OGX member, I had full clarity of what I signed up for. I believed in the organisation's mission to create globally-minded young leaders through sending young people on exchange experiences, and processed myself for a GC exchange for the end of the year too.
However, during my AIESEC journey I also uncovered the other half AIESEC's workings. Entities from all around the world were doing the same thing - sending their own young people out - to places like Australia! And we had a dedicated ICX team creating opportunities with organisations here to receive those young people from all across the world.
I thought to myself, shit that is cool! To be 19 years old, contributing to Peace and Fulfilment of Humankind's potential, through creating company opportunities to develop globally-minded young leaders!
As a VPOGX in 2013, I was very close to my VPICX (his name is Davey :D) and we caught the bus home together, always talking about better ways to send out and receive more young people to develop themselves. We understood together that we were in charge of two sides of a coin - exchange needs two sides and we were the ones making it happen! I would help him with interviewing overseas EPs applying for Australian companies, and he would help me prepare Australian EPs for company interviews. It was an incredible opportunity to be part of the full process of what we offer - life-changing exchange experiences in cross-cultural environments.
My love for ICX continued as an LCP - I went on meetings with my VPICX to help create more and more opportunities here for overseas young people - and on the MC too! The picture up there was 1 year ago when I was MCVP F&G - and Luciana, MCVP ICX of 15-16 and we just finished a meeting with a start-up in Bondi Beach. Earlier this year I also went with Layli to meet with Telstra discovering how can we bring Filipino young people to develop their world citizenship in Australia? What changes will they go through and what impact can they make on the world after their experience here?
At the end of the day, we work day in and day out to create international exchange opportunities for young people to develop their leadership. Whether you work with outgoing or incoming products (or both!) - how are you supporting the creation of more of these opportunities to amplify our impact across the world?

"We are more than our role - our organisation comes first!"
This is Jeremy Tai (MAC member) and Silvia Liu (LCP) - who secured and went on their first iGET meeting from an LC campaign (bit.ly/icxhypetrain)! (CHECK OUT THEIR INITIATIVE!)
Jeremy and Silvia had never been on a meeting before, but got training 1 hour before and did research in the car!
Looking forward to the outcome, Monash! How many young people will you bring in? :)

Official EXPA Standings this semester
(1st aug - 25th sept)
Congratulations UQ, Monash and Melbourne on getting Opens and Meetings this semester in iGT/E!
Congratulations on your achievements, Monash, ANU & UNSW (oGC) and UQ, Melbourne and QUT (oGT/E)! :D
How are we growing from 2015?
September's almost over - what inferences are you getting from these numbers?
oGC:
Our Approves have fallen a lot compared to September 2015. 203 people have applied for a project in September - that's 203 people who want to go on a Global Citizen project this summer. What simple actions can you do today to ensure all of these 203 people get the leadership development experience they're looking for? And heading into October, how can we convert people quickly while also getting more people in the pipeline as new applicants?
oGT/E:
We've seen a 50% growth in Approves in oGT/E which is great! This shows that our conversion from Applicants to Approved has improved - but how can we convert even more of these applicants? There's a huge supply of GT and GE projects in India, Mainland of China, Indonesia and the Philippines - how can we focus our efforts into matching EPs into these countries for quick results?
iGT:
We have an increased our activity in 50% in just 3 weeks, Leads are really high and meetings have been booked, but the big step right now is how we are giving follow up to these activities so at the end we can convert those leads into more meetings and meetings into contracts signed. Remember that sales is build in the every day actions that we do to close that negotiation!!!
WHAT'S COMING UP?
How can we move our OGX Applicants to Approved in one week?
That's the question we'll be tackling in this week's #collaboraction space on Thursday 10pm, GMT+10. Anyone is welcome to attend - register at bit.ly/app2appfam before Wednesday 11:59pm, GMT+10.
