it's all about relationships <3
This is a bit of a weird thing to admit, but it recently hit me the other day that I am the oldest person in AIESEC in Australia, having been here for 4 years and 8 months now. (Holy crap...D:)
Seeing almost 5 terms of our entity going through the cycles, one thing that this "long" journey has taught me is that starting, maintaining and keeping relationships is the lifeblood of any organisation.
Think about it like dating - it takes time to find the right places/apps/friends to meet people that you want to start a relationship with. It takes time to discover it is the right fit, and constant dates to know more about each other. It takes effort to nurture it until becomes solid to eventually lead to commitment.
However, sometimes we forget that we need to nurture a relationship with our customers too. Maybe we haven't called our date a month and we forgot about them, or maybe we've asked them to marry us right after we met them for the first time. (And what will they say about us to their friends after we did that?) Starting from scratch every year doesn't make any sense - our market remembers us no matter who is in our leadership bodies right now! Relationships are what keeps us in business to amplify what we do as an organisation.
So what kind of constant support do every single one of our (eg.) applicants deserve? How can we service our companies with excellence to earn their respect and commitment?
To be a Youth leadership Movement, we need to bring all young people (and their enablers!) with us for Peace and Fulfilment of Humankind's Potential. Let's get it done.

#30agiledays - highlights from lcs!
AIESEC in RMIT
Dreams turned into reality when we finally transformed one of our locked away ideas into an amazing stall and secured 30 EOIs!
A follow up LC wide action space during LCM secured 17 CCs as well :)
What we did was buy a whole bunch of balloons with each colour representing a certain SDG. They were actually a great way to open up conversations. Attached to the strings of the balloons were sample projects and raffle tickets (prize being discounted exchange). People were only able to grab a balloon and enter once they signed up.
Despite the weather, the day was a great success!

AIESEC in Monash
From these 3 hours (12-3pm) we got 43 EOIs & booked 5 CCs!
Good example of how #back2basics and improving/focusing on traditional marketing channels which gets us results, does the job! 😊😊😊 no extensive planning needed to go into a stall! In terms of what was actually going on in the stall - We had free cookies if you write down a SDG you are passionate about (sticky note) + post on our FB page wall with a nice photo! We partnered with another organisation (Sockos) for the prize (4 pairs of socks available to win for best photo!) also had roll all music playing. We had props (e.g marble plate, flowers, dog lol) so people would be more willing and want to take a super cool photo 🌸🌺🌼🌷🍃 As there was a lot to do at the stall, we got more of an opportunity to sell AIESEC clearly to them, rather than just the normal pitch. In addition - a lot of members came to help out! Which was needed because the traffic was quite high. Our Facebook event had 427 interested & 163 attending - reaching 17k people this week. LOOKING FORWARD TO CONVERTING THESE PEOPLE INTO MATCHES 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 |
AIESEC in UQ
Something's happening in QLD... I'm excited and scared!!!
AIESEC in Sydney
Miroslav talked about how he had worked at Google, and Universal Music (and ofc, we had a solid discussion on company culture and personal contribution) but ultimately, for him, coming to Australia was easily worth giving up working at a big name company (it’s very difficult for people from Eastern Europe to come work here). He’s someone that strives for a better world, that empowers others (he inspired me to headhunt companies to create the job roles I want to work in), and challenges the status quo.
Miroslav is an amazing individual, and his life is something he entrusts to AIESEC. Coming to Australia is literally a once in a lifetime opportunity for him, and a small mistake from us potentially costs him his entire future. Value delivery is goddamn important. Don’t fuck it up. |
omg!
Will from AIESEC in Monash tells us why he believes in IGT and why he is working everyday to achieve and make it possible that many more people can come to Australia. Also thanks to Silvia - she nailed it!!!

"The world has hatred, war and greed. Then again, the world has love, peace, and humanity. People perceive the world with unfavourable side and decide the unfavourism to consume them. I know that the world isn’t perfect, just like us, but I have seen beautiful things that have always motivated me to change the world. I stand here as a leader to inspire, connect and enable innovative leaders to create a dynamic and resilient global community. Exchange will help me to travel to another country, for me to have a chance to change the citizens’ perception on how they view the world and make them leader for themselves" - Roy Kim

Official EXPA Standings this semester
(1st aug - 11th OCT)
We're now into October - what inferences are you getting from these numbers?
oGC:
We've almost hit 500 applicants this semester - that's 500 people who want to go on an AIESEC exchange this summer. But why have only 59 been Approved? October is our biggest month to get Approves, and our biggest chance to convert all these applicants into Approves so they can have a leadership development experience abroad. What are you doing with your EPs after they apply to projects, to ensure they convert to being Approved quickly?
oGT/E:
Well done to all LCs getting Applicants and Approves in oGT/E over the last week! :D There's a boom of GE projects in India and the Philippines this summer, that are excited to taking on Australian EPs. There are a lot of projects on OP, and that might be a reason for the low conversion - EPs are applying to a lot of random projects with a high level of competition. How can we direct our EPs to these six-week start-up opportunities?
iGT:
We have a high quantity of meetings! Our focus should be choosing from those meetings the ones that are about to close or that we can keep following up to close soon. If we are still getting more meetings on top, don't forget the keep building our existing leads and keep building the relationship with them. Increase the sense of urgency in our potential partners and start preparing which countries we can get the EP profiles from. We have to achieve 2/3 of this semester's opens goal this month! Let's do it with discipline and courage for Australia and those people that want to develop themselves in our country.
