actively using your strengths
As an AIESECer, understanding that you need to focus on your strengths is something we are told and know at the back of our brains. However, knowing and actively doing so in all contexts is quite different, and its something I've been reminded of today.
Today Louise asked the MC to think about what our strengths are, and how we could play our role in the MC meeting today. Although I could answer what my strengths were, there was a continuous conscious thought during the meeting how I was using my strengths to further the progress of the meeting and take the decisions necessary for the entity to move forward. But also, it reminded me that this consciousness is key in my every day life to become a better leader for not just for AIESEC, but for the world around me. It is through using my strengths, and not obsessing over my areas of improvement, that is going to help me make the biggest impact on the world that I can possible make.
Remember that the qualities that AIESEC builds in you isn't just so you can do better at your AIESEC work - in fact the qualities are perhaps only truly useful if you use them outside the organisation. In a world that is becoming increasingly uncertain, young leaders need to be firm on who we are, what we value, and what we can contribute to the world. And not only that, we need to consciously act on those to make a positive difference to the society around us.
Think about what you're good at today, and commit to using that towards good tomorrow.
